The four imperial cities in eight days, which is exactly long enough for Fez to stop being a maze and start making sense. From Casablanca to the Atlas, and from there to Marrakech.
Day by day
Day 01 · Spain / Casablanca
Arrival and transfer. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 02 · Casablanca / Rabat / Meknes / Fez
The Hassan II mosque over the Atlantic, with its two-hundred-metre minaret. Then Rabat and the Kasbah of the Udayas, and Meknes with the Bab Mansour gate. Into Fez after dark.
Day 03 · Fez
A full day in the medina, which has nine thousand alleys and not one car. The Bou Inania madrasa, the Nejjarine fountain and the tanneries, worked the same way as a thousand years ago and smelling the same too.
Day 04 · Fez / Ifrane / Beni Mellal / Marrakech
Across the Middle Atlas among cedars and macaques. Ifrane looks Swiss by accident. From March to September, a stop at the Ouzoud waterfalls.
Day 05 · Marrakech
The Menara gardens, the Koutoubia minaret, the Saadian Tombs and the Bahia Palace. At dusk, Jemaa el-Fna fills with smoke, musicians and food stalls.
Days 06 and 07 · Marrakech
Two free days. Our suggestion: the Ourika valley at the foot of the Atlas, or Essaouira and its harbour full of blue boats.
Day 08 · Marrakech / Casablanca / Spain
Transfer to the airport and the flight home.
