Day 01 · Spain / Amman
Arrival and transfer.
Day 02 · Amman / Ajloun / Jerash / Amman
Ajloun castle, built in 1185 to watch the crusaders, and Jerash, a Roman city with colonnaded streets and two theatres still standing whole.
Day 03 · Amman / Madaba / Mount Nebo / Petra
The sixth-century mosaic map at Madaba, and Mount Nebo, from where Moses saw the promised land. Into Petra at dusk.
Day 04 · Petra
A full day. You enter through the Siq, a kilometre-long gorge that opens suddenly onto the Treasury. Then the royal tombs and, if your legs hold, the eight hundred steps up to the Monastery.
Day 05 · Petra / Little Petra / Wadi Rum
Little Petra in the morning and, in the afternoon, 4×4 through Wadi Rum among sandstone mountains. Dinner and a night in a Bedouin camp.
Day 06 · Wadi Rum / Dead Sea
Down to the lowest point on earth, four hundred metres below sea level. Floating is compulsory.
Day 07 · Dead Sea / Amman
A free morning and back to the capital.
Day 08 · Amman / Spain
Flight home.
