Hollywood and Beverly Hills in the morning. The rest of the day free: Santa Monica and Venice are twenty minutes away.
Day 03 · Los Angeles / Phoenix
Across the Mojave desert and the Colorado river into Arizona.
Day 04 · Phoenix / Sedona / Grand Canyon
Montezuma Castle, a twelfth-century Sinagua dwelling wedged into a cliff, Sedona and its red rocks, and Oak Creek Canyon. You reach the Grand Canyon for sunset.
Day 05 · Grand Canyon / Monument Valley / Moab
Monument Valley, in Navajo country, with the buttes John Ford filmed nine times. A panoramic view of Canyonlands.
Day 06 · Moab / Arches / Rock Springs
Arches National Park, with more than two thousand stone arches, and the views over Flaming Gorge.
Day 07 · Rock Springs / Grand Teton / Jackson Hole
The granite peaks of the Grand Teton, rising straight off the flat with no foothills, and Jackson Hole with its square of arches made from elk antlers.
Day 08 · Jackson Hole / Yellowstone
A full day in the world’s first national park: geysers, mud volcanoes, waterfalls and herds of bison stopping the traffic.
Day 09 · Yellowstone / Salt Lake City
A tour of the Utah capital and Temple Square.
Day 10 · Salt Lake City / Bryce Canyon
The natural amphitheatres of Bryce, filled with orange rock spires called hoodoos. At sunrise they are something else.
Day 11 · Bryce / Zion / Las Vegas
Zion, which you walk from the canyon floor looking up, and into Las Vegas across the Mojave.
Day 12 · Las Vegas / Los Angeles
A free morning and back to Los Angeles.
Day 13 · Los Angeles / Spain
Flight home.
Day 14 · Spain
