Day 01 · Spain / Colombo
Overnight flight.
Day 02 · Colombo / Pinnawala / Kandy
Arrival and on to Kandy, stopping at the Pinnawala elephant centre for the midday bathe in the river.
Day 03 · Kandy / Peradeniya / Kandy
A walk through the tea plantations and a Ceylon tea factory. In the afternoon, the Temple of the Tooth and Kandyan dancing.
Day 04 · Kandy / Mahiyanganaya / Passikudah
Across to the east coast, stopping at the Mahiyanganaya temple.
Days 05 and 06 · Passikudah
Two days on a turquoise, waveless stretch of the Indian Ocean. Snorkelling, diving or kayaking for those who want it.
Day 07 · Passikudah / Polonnaruwa / Sigiriya
The ruins of Polonnaruwa, a twelfth-century capital, and the Buddhas carved from living rock at Gal Vihara. At the end of the day, the climb up Sigiriya Lion Rock.
Day 08 · Sigiriya / Dambulla / Colombo
The cave temple at Dambulla, a hundred and fifty Buddhas across five caves. Back to Colombo.
Day 09 · Colombo / Spain
Flight home.
Day 10 · Spain
