Eleven days from Istanbul to the Aegean, crossing Anatolia through the middle. Turkey is the only country where you breakfast looking at Asia and dine looking at Europe, and where an entire city is dug underground.

Day 01 · Spain / Istanbul
Arrival and transfer.
Day 02 · Istanbul
Hagia Sophia, a church for a thousand years and a mosque for five hundred, the Byzantine Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar with its four thousand shops.
Day 03 · Istanbul / Ankara
A free morning — we recommend the Bosphorus by boat — and out to Ankara through the Bolu mountains.
Day 04 · Ankara / Cappadocia
The Museum of Anatolian Civilisations, which orders ten thousand years of history in two hours. Then Atatürk’s mausoleum and on to Cappadocia past the Salt Lake.
Day 05 · Cappadocia
An underground city eight floors deep where whole communities hid, the citadel of Uchisar and the fairy chimneys of Pasabag. If you want the sunrise balloon flight, say so and we will arrange it.
Day 06 · Cappadocia / Konya / Pamukkale
The Sultanhan caravanserai, a stop on the silk road, and the Mevlana mausoleum in Konya, home of the whirling dervishes.
Day 07 · Pamukkale / Kusadasi
The white terraces of Pamukkale, limestone laid down by thermal water over millennia, with Hierapolis on top. Aphrodisias in the afternoon.
Day 08 · Kusadasi
Ephesus: Curetes Street, the Library of Celsus and a theatre for twenty-five thousand. Then the House of the Virgin Mary.
Day 09 · Kusadasi / Canakkale
The Asclepion of Pergamon, a hospital two thousand years ago, and Troy with its wooden horse.
Day 10 · Canakkale / Istanbul
Ferry across the Sea of Marmara and back to Istanbul.
Day 11 · Istanbul / Spain
Flight home.
