Greek Islands Without the Noise

The Cyclades have thirty inhabited islands and everybody goes to the same two. This route keeps Santorini for the end, two nights, and spends the rest on islands where by nine at night the only sound is plates in the tavernas. You move by ferry, which is part of the trip rather than a chore.
Day by day
Day 01 · Athens
Arrival. Dinner on a Plaka rooftop with the Acropolis lit up opposite.
Day 02 · Athens
The Acropolis as it opens, the new museum mid-morning, and the afternoon around Monastiraki and the agora.
Day 03 · Naxos
Fast ferry. The largest of the Cyclades, with mountains, inland villages and a sixth-century marble doorway standing alone opposite the port.
Day 04 · Naxos
Halki, Apiranthos and the abandoned kouroi in the quarries — six-metre statues that cracked while being carved and still lie where they fell.
Day 05 · Amorgos
Ferry east. The island is a mountain ridge and the Hozoviotissa monastery is wedged into a vertical wall three hundred metres above the sea.
Day 06 · Amorgos
Walking the old paths between Chora and Aegiali, or a day in the coves on the north side.
Day 07 · Folegandros
A small island, with a Chora on the edge of a two-hundred-metre cliff and one road.
Day 08 · Folegandros
The climb to the Panagia at sunset and not much else, which is exactly the plan.
Day 09 · Santorini
A short ferry. You stay on the caldera at Imerovigli, which has the same view as Oia without the crush.
Day 10 · Santorini
Akrotiri in the morning, a Minoan town buried whole by the eruption of 1600 BC and preserved under the ash. A free afternoon.
Day 11 · Santorini / Spain
Flight home.
