The Philippines is seven thousand islands and a logistics problem that puts many people off. Put together properly it stops being a problem: three or four areas strung together with short flights and one boat crossing, and what is left is clear water, limestone cliffs and very few people outside two or three specific spots.

Day 01 · Spain / Manila
Flight with one stop.
Day 02 · Manila
Arrival. Intramuros in the afternoon, which is what is left of Spanish Manila after 1945.
Day 03 · El Nido
Flight to Palawan. An afternoon on the beach and sunset from a boat.
Day 04 · Bacuit Bay
Out to the Miniloc lagoons by kayak, the only way into the Big Lagoon without engine noise. You leave before everyone else.
Day 05 · El Nido
The northern islands of the bay, white sand and snorkelling on reefs that see few visitors.
Day 06 · El Nido / Coron
The crossing by expedition boat, with anchorages and a night on board or on an island depending on the departure.
Day 07 · Coron
Diving or snorkelling over the Japanese wrecks sunk in 1944, which lie shallow and are visible even from the surface. Kayangan lake in the afternoon.
Day 08 · Coron / Bohol
Flight with a connection. Transfer to Panglao.
Day 09 · Bohol
The Chocolate Hills are twelve hundred identical cones in the middle of the island. In the afternoon, the tarsier sanctuary — primates twelve centimetres tall.
Day 10 · Balicasag
An early boat out to swim with turtles and, depending on the month, sardine schools thousands strong.
Day 11 · Bohol / Cebu
Fast ferry and a last night.
Day 12 · Cebu / Spain
Flight home.
Day 13 · Spain
Arrival.
